Bleeding for the cause - Here Lies Affliction in Camden review

Something happened at this show that has not happened to me in a very long time, 4 and a half years to be precise. Whats that, you ask? I bled at a show, probably my worst bleeder ever actually!

Matt's brother Chris's band Here Lies Affliction were "headlining" a show at the purple turtle in Camden, I say headlining, they were the advertised band, despite the fact they were actually 3rd on the bill with 5 bands playing. Also on the bill where A Long Time Dead (Jon who plays guitar in HLA also plays for A Long Time Dead) so it was looking like a good show. Both bands are a bit more hardcore style than would normally be my taste, but when your friends are playing that doesn't really matter.

First up on the show were a band called Beater (who unfortunately got put down on the running times as Benter, don't know if they ever saw that or not, if they didn't and they're reading this, unlucky guys! They put on a good show, especially since I don't think they have played very many shows before.

Next up were A Long Time Dead who were sounding great for the whole one song I got to hear - unfortunately for me the Beater bassist who's quite a big dude decided to go hardcore dancing. He took me and Matt out in one motion, Matt hit the deck and I hit the raised area and my ear hit a nice metal table. Needless to say, when I put my hand there afterwards there was quite a lot of blood and it hurt like hell so I missed the rest of ALTD getting my ear cleaned up (thanks Matt) and sitting outside putting pressure on it trying to get the damn thing to stop bleeding. Shame as what I heard sounded really good so sorry ALTD, lol.

Happily things improved enough for me to go inside and watch Here Lies Affliction (at last, sorry Chris it's only taken me about 2 years!!). The lads did their stuff and everyone was into it, so it was a good show! Myself and Matt didn't hang around to catch the other 2 bands as we'd come specifically for Here Lies Affliction and A Long Time Dead.

Here's to catching more successful gigs from these guys (injury free) in the future! There will be pictures up here and in the gallery very soon! If you don't know the bands, make sure you have a listen to their stuff, check them out here:
